Choose the HIKMICRO G61H for high-resolution, high-temperature inspections

The HIKMICRO G61H combines 640 × 480 native infrared resolution with a temperature measurement range extending to 2000°C. It provides the highest detector resolution and temperature capability available together in the G Series.

Choose the HIKMICRO G61H for:

  • Detailed thermal inspections of furnaces, kilns and process equipment
  • High-temperature industrial assets with small or complex inspection targets
  • Condition monitoring requiring both 640 × 480 resolution and measurement above 650°C
  • Critical industrial processes where thermal anomalies need to be documented precisely
  • Teams needing the G Series' highest combined resolution and temperature capability
What do the resolution differences mean in practice?

The five G Series models use three different native infrared detector resolutions:

  • G31: 384 × 288 — 110,592 thermal pixels
  • G41 and G41H: 480 × 360 — 172,800 thermal pixels
  • G61 and G61H: 640 × 480 — 307,200 thermal pixels

The G41 records approximately 56% more native thermal pixels than the G31, while the G61 records approximately 78% more than the G41.

Higher native resolution is particularly useful when inspecting smaller components, complex equipment or targets that cannot be approached closely. However, detector resolution is only part of the decision: lens field of view and working distance also determine how much useful detail reaches the sensor.

All five models support HIKMICRO SuperIR image enhancement, which produces higher-resolution processed output without increasing the detector's native pixel count.

When should you choose a high-temperature H model?

The G31, G41 and G61 measure temperatures up to 650°C, covering many electrical, mechanical and general industrial maintenance applications.

The G41H and G61H extend that upper limit to 2000°C, making them more appropriate for furnaces, kilns, foundries and other high-temperature processes.

The H designation does not indicate higher resolution. The G41 and G41H both use 480 × 360 detectors, while the G61 and G61H both use 640 × 480 detectors.

Choose an H model when your temperature measurement requirements justify it, not simply because it sits higher in the range.

How do lens choice and working distance affect the comparison?

The standard lens configurations differ across the range:

  • G31: 25° × 19°
  • G41 and G41H: 18.7° × 14°
  • G61 and G61H: 25° × 19°

A narrower field of view concentrates the camera's available thermal pixels on a smaller scene, which can improve target detail at a given distance. A wider view is useful when inspecting larger areas or working closer to equipment.

HIKMICRO also lists compatible wide-angle and telephoto accessories for the G Series. Their compatibility should be checked against the specific camera model rather than assuming every accessory fits every configuration.

Capabilities shared by the G Series
  • 50 Hz infrared image frequency
  • HIKMICRO SuperIR image enhancement
  • Thermal sensitivity better than 35 mK under specified test conditions
  • Laser-assisted, continuous, one-shot, manual and touch autofocus modes
  • 8 MP visible-light camera
  • 4.3-inch, 800 × 480 touchscreen
  • Radiometric JPEG image capture
  • Live measurement tools including spots, areas, lines and temperature differences
  • Voice and text annotations
  • Inspection route functionality
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB-C connectivity
  • Approx. four hours of battery operation
  • IP54 protection and 2 m drop-test specification

All five models support inspection documentation and analysis through HIKMICRO's software ecosystem. The principal purchasing decisions remain detector resolution, working distance, lens choice and temperature range.

HIKMICRO G Series FAQs

Clear answers to the most common questions about choosing between the HIKMICRO G31, G41, G41H, G61, G61H.

What is the main difference between the HIKMICRO G31, G41, G41H, G61 and G61H?

Native resolution and temperature range. The G31 has 384 × 288 resolution, the G41/G41H have 480 × 360 and the G61/G61H have 640 × 480. The G41H and G61H measure up to 2000°C; the other three models reach 650°C. The standard lens field of view also differs.

Which HIKMICRO G Series model is best for electrical inspections?

The G31 is suitable for many routine inspections of accessible panels and connections. The G41 provides more detail for smaller targets, while the G61 has the highest native resolution for complex switchgear and demanding electrical inspections. The best choice depends on component size, inspection distance and the detail needed for reporting.

Do HIKMICRO G Series cameras support additional lenses?

HIKMICRO lists compatible wide-angle and telephoto lens accessories for the G Series, but compatibility varies by camera model. Check the exact accessory and camera configuration before ordering. Do not assume an accessory designed for one G model fits another.

What temperature range does each G Series camera measure?

The G31, G41 and G61 measure from −20°C to 650°C. The G41H and G61H extend the range from −20°C to 2000°C. These are overall measurement limits; accuracy and measurement conditions must also be considered.

What is HIKMICRO SuperIR, and does it increase native resolution?

SuperIR is HIKMICRO's image enhancement technology. It produces processed images with higher pixel dimensions, but it does not change the physical resolution of the infrared detector. For example, the G61 has a native 640 × 480 detector and can generate 1280 × 960 SuperIR output.

Are the G41H and G61H more accurate than the standard models?

Not inherently. Their primary advantage is their extended temperature measurement range. The datasheets list accuracy of ±2°C or ±2% under specified conditions. Choose between the H and standard models according to the temperatures you need to measure, rather than assuming the H designation means greater overall accuracy.

Is the HIKMICRO G Series suitable for repeat inspections and reporting?

Yes. The range supports inspection routes, radiometric JPEG capture, measurement tools and image annotations. HIKMICRO Analyzer software can be used to examine thermal images and prepare reports, making the cameras suitable for repeat maintenance and condition-monitoring programmes.

How do I choose between the G41 and G61?

Choose the G41 if its 480 × 360 detector and narrower 18.7° standard field of view provide sufficient detail at your normal working distance. Choose the G61 if you need 640 × 480 native resolution for smaller, more distant or more complex targets. Compare the actual lens configuration as well as detector resolution.
