Software, support & downloads

Standalone operation

The E54 operates as a standalone professional thermal imaging camera. You can capture, review, annotate and store thermal images directly on the camera without connecting to a computer during the inspection.

Images are saved as radiometric files with temperature measurement data, so findings can be reviewed, analysed and reported after the inspection.

Analysis and reporting software

FLIR Thermal Studio Suite provides desktop tools for reviewing thermal images, analysing temperature measurements and preparing inspection reports. Available features depend on the selected software edition and licence.

For cloud-based image storage and sharing, the E54 supports FLIR Ignite through Wi-Fi connectivity. Images can be uploaded from the camera to help keep inspection files organised and easier to share with colleagues or customers.

Inspection routes and on-camera reporting

The E54 supports FLIR Inspection Route, helping maintenance teams follow planned inspection points and keep records organised by asset. This is useful for repeat checks across panels, plant rooms, motors, pumps and building-services equipment.

On-camera reporting tools include voice annotation, GPS tagging, on-screen text and sketch notes, helping you add context to inspection images before they reach the reporting stage.

METERLiNK

FLIR METERLiNK allows readings from compatible FLIR test and measurement instruments to be used alongside your thermal inspection data via Bluetooth. Depending on the connected instrument, these can include electrical measurements or environmental readings.

Combining measurement data with thermal findings gives clearer context for fault assessment and reporting. A compatible FLIR instrument is required and supplied separately.

Software accounts, licences or subscriptions may be required for particular apps and services.

Is the FLIR E54 right for your work?

The FLIR E54 is built for electrical contractors, facilities teams, maintenance engineers and building-services professionals who inspect varied equipment and need clearer thermal evidence than the E52 provides, while working mainly with a standard 24° lens.

It combines 320 × 240 thermal resolution, manual focus, MSX image enhancement and a 650°C upper measurement range. That makes it a strong fit for inspecting distribution equipment, motors, pumps, pipework and building-services assets where smaller components or busier scenes call for more image detail.

Well suited to:

  • Inspecting distribution boards, control panels and electrical connections
  • Checking motors, pumps, bearings and mechanical assets for abnormal heat
  • Facilities maintenance across plant rooms and building-services installations
  • Building inspections involving heat loss, insulation issues and moisture risk
  • Repeat inspection routes across multiple assets or sites
  • Contractors who need recognisable, well-organised evidence for client reports
  • Buyers who want higher resolution than the E52 without paying for interchangeable lenses

Consider the E52 if:

  • Your work is mainly routine checks of larger, accessible targets
  • 240 × 180 resolution and a 550°C upper range meet your requirements
  • You want the most accessible entry point to the Exx Series

Consider the E76 if:

  • You need interchangeable AutoCal lenses for distant targets, wide building views or confined spaces
  • Your work regularly changes viewing distance or field of view
  • You want the flexibility of a broader Exx inspection platform

Consider the E86 or E96 if:

  • You need substantially more thermal detail for small components or dense equipment
  • You inspect complex industrial assets or need to resolve finer heat patterns
  • Your work calls for higher resolution alongside interchangeable lens options

Clear Thermal Evidence for Detailed Maintenance Inspections

The FLIR E54 combines 320 × 240 infrared resolution, manual focus, MSX image enhancement, Wi-Fi connectivity and a −20°C to 650°C measurement capability. It suits electrical, mechanical, facilities and building inspections where the person reviewing the findings needs to see both the heat pattern and the equipment involved.

What is MSX?

MSX adds visible-light edge detail from the built-in camera to the thermal image. It helps make components and their positions easier to recognise without replacing the underlying thermal data. On a crowded panel or plant installation, that added structure can help you associate an abnormal heat pattern with the correct component.

See more detail in busy scenes

The E54’s 320 × 240 detector captures 76,800 thermal pixels, compared with 43,200 on the E52. The extra resolution is useful when you need to distinguish smaller components or examine several assets within one image.

Focus clearly on the target

Manual focus lets you adjust the image for equipment at different working distances. It helps produce clearer evidence when moving between nearby connections, larger machinery and assets across a plant room.

Cover routine and hotter maintenance checks

The E54 offers two measurement ranges: −20°C to 120°C and 0°C to 650°C. This covers everyday electrical, mechanical, HVAC and building checks, with additional headroom for hotter equipment.

Organise findings after the inspection

FLIR Inspection Route helps structure repeat checks. Voice and text annotations add context on site, while FLIR Ignite and Thermal Studio support image storage, review and reporting.

FLIR E54 FAQs

Clear answers to the most common questions about selecting, ordering and using the FLIR E54.

Is the FLIR E54 suitable for electrical inspections?

Yes. Its 320 × 240 thermal resolution, manual focus and MSX are useful for inspecting distribution boards, control panels, connections and other electrical assets. Assess temperature patterns in the context of load, equipment condition and your inspection procedures.

What temperature range does the FLIR E54 measure?

It has two selectable ranges: −20°C to 120°C and 0°C to 650°C. Select the range appropriate to the equipment being inspected.

Does the FLIR E54 have MSX?

Yes. FLIR MSX adds visible-light edge detail to the thermal image, making equipment and component positions easier to recognise.

What is the infrared resolution of the FLIR E54?

Its native infrared resolution is 320 × 240, giving 76,800 thermal pixels. That is more detail than the E52’s 240 × 180 detector.

Can the FLIR E54 upload images to the cloud?

Yes. With Wi-Fi and FLIR Ignite, the E54 can upload images for storage, sharing and later review. An account and network connection are required.

Does the FLIR E54 have interchangeable lenses?

No. The E54 has a fixed 24° lens. If you need telephoto, wide-angle or FlexView lens options, consider the E76, E86 or E96.

Is the FLIR E54 fixed focus?

No. It uses manual focus, allowing you to adjust sharpness for targets at different distances.

What type of files does the FLIR E54 save?

It saves radiometric JPEG images containing measurement data, so you can review temperatures and prepare reports after the inspection. It also supports video recording.

Who is the FLIR E54 best for?

Electrical contractors, maintenance engineers and facilities teams who need detailed, reportable thermal inspections across mixed assets, but generally work with a standard 24° field of view.

Is the camera supplied calibrated and ready to use?

Yes. The FLIR E54 is supplied new, ready to use and with the relevant manufacturer documentation. FLIR also provides access to product certificates and service, adjustment and calibration information through its support resources.

A standard manufacturer calibration or quality document should not be confused with a UKAS-accredited calibration certificate. Please contact us before ordering if accredited calibration is required.

How long will delivery take, and will I receive an import bill?

In-stock camera and lens configurations are normally delivered within 1–5 working days. Configurations that are not currently in stock can take up to six weeks. UK customers will not receive a separate import or customs bill.

What warranty protection is included?

The FLIR E54 is covered by FLIR’s manufacturer-backed 2-10 limited warranty, with 2 years of cover on camera components and 10 years of cover on the uncooled thermal detector, subject to FLIR’s warranty terms and product registration requirements.

Corey Technical remains your point of contact after purchase and can assist with support, warranty guidance and repair arrangements.

Can I return the E54 if I change my mind?

Yes. The FLIR E54 can be returned within 60 days, subject to our Returns & Refunds Policy and the product being returned in re-saleable condition. Please contact Corey Technical before returning the camera or any accessories so that we can arrange the next steps.
