Software, support & downloads

Standalone operation

The G41 operates as a standalone professional thermal imaging camera. You can capture, review, annotate and store thermal images directly on its 4.3-inch touchscreen without connecting to a computer during the inspection.

Images are saved as radiometric JPEG files containing temperature measurement data. With a removable 64 GB microSD card, the camera has capacity for approximately 60,000 images, allowing inspectors to document extensive maintenance work before transferring files for analysis.

Analysis and reporting software

HIKMICRO Analyzer provides desktop tools for reviewing radiometric thermal images, examining temperature measurements and preparing professional inspection reports.

The software is available without an additional licence purchase, giving contractors and maintenance teams a way to analyse and present findings without immediately committing to a paid reporting subscription.

For mobile working, HIKMICRO Viewer allows compatible camera images to be transferred and shared using a smartphone or tablet. This is useful when findings need to be discussed with a colleague or sent to a customer before a formal report is completed.

Inspection routes and on-camera reporting

The G41 supports HIKMICRO Inspection Route, allowing maintenance teams to work through planned inspection points and keep findings organised by equipment or location.

HIKMICRO Inspector can be used to prepare inspection routes on a computer, helping teams standardise repeat surveys across electrical panels, motors, pumps and other critical equipment.

On-camera documentation includes voice notes up to 60 seconds, text notes up to 200 characters, GPS location information and compass data. These features help preserve context that might otherwise be lost between the inspection and the final report.

Connectivity and remote viewing

The G41 supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, USB-C and HDMI connectivity.

Radiometric video can be streamed over UVC or Wi-Fi for compatible viewing and recording workflows. This provides additional flexibility when thermal imagery needs to be monitored or analysed away from the camera's own display.

The integrated laser distance meter also measures target distance, helping inspectors record working distances and configure measurement parameters more accurately.

Software functionality and compatibility can depend on the installed firmware, application version and connected device.

Is the HIKMICRO G41 right for your work?

The HIKMICRO G41 is built for electrical thermographers, industrial reliability engineers, utility maintenance teams and specialist inspection contractors who regularly examine smaller components, densely installed equipment or assets that cannot be approached closely.

Its 480 × 360 native thermal detector, 18.7° × 14° standard lens and 0.68 mrad spatial resolution provide substantially finer target detail than the G31's standard configuration. Combined with five focusing modes, interchangeable lenses and built-in Inspection Route, the G41 is designed for inspections where identifying the precise location of an abnormal temperature matters.

The G41 is particularly attractive to professionals carrying out detailed electrical surveys or repeat condition-monitoring programmes who need stronger thermal evidence without moving to the higher-priced G61.

Well suited to:

  • Electrical thermographers inspecting densely populated switchgear, distribution boards and cable terminations
  • Utility maintenance teams assessing overhead connections, electrical infrastructure and elevated equipment
  • Industrial reliability engineers monitoring motors, bearings, pumps and critical production machinery
  • Specialist contractors inspecting smaller components or working from restricted distances
  • Predictive maintenance programmes requiring detailed, repeatable assessments of critical assets
  • Thermography contractors producing professional inspection reports for commercial and industrial clients
  • Organisations that need finer spatial detail than the G31 without requiring a 640 × 480 detector

Consider the G31 if:

  • Most inspections involve accessible electrical panels, machinery and building-services equipment
  • Its 384 × 288 detector provides sufficient detail at your normal working distances
  • You would prefer the wider 25° × 19° standard lens for general-purpose inspections
  • You do not regularly need the G41's finer spatial resolution

Consider the G61 if:

  • You need 640 × 480 native resolution for particularly demanding inspections
  • You regularly assess complex equipment where more thermal pixels improve diagnosis
  • Your reporting requires greater native image detail across large installations
  • You need higher resolution while retaining a wider 25° × 19° standard field of view

Consider the G41H if:

  • You need the same native resolution and standard lens as the G41
  • You regularly inspect furnaces, kilns, foundries or high-temperature process equipment
  • Your application requires temperature measurement capability extending to 2000°C rather than 650°C

Specification Standard 18.7° × 14° 0.5× wide-angle 2× telephoto 3× telephoto
Availability Included with every G41 Optional additional lens Optional additional lens Optional additional lens
Lens type Standard lens 0.5× wide-angle 2× telephoto 3× telephoto
Field of view 18.7° × 14° Wider than standard Narrower than standard Narrowest available view
Spatial resolution 0.68 mrad Lens-dependent Lens-dependent Lens-dependent
Main advantage Fine spatial detail for inspecting smaller components and equipment at practical working distances. Captures more of a large target or installation without increasing working distance. Concentrates more detector pixels on smaller or more distant targets than the standard lens. Greatest optional magnification for specialist long-distance inspections.
Main drawback Narrower scene coverage than a wide-angle lens and less distant-target detail than telephoto. Small targets occupy fewer detector pixels at the same working distance. Narrower scene coverage makes large nearby targets harder to capture. Very narrow coverage requires precise aiming and can make locating targets more difficult.
Best suited to Electrical thermographers, industrial reliability engineers and contractors requiring detailed equipment inspections. Large machinery, plant rooms and wide installations where stepping back is difficult. Elevated electrical connections, overhead equipment and distant machinery. Small distant components and specialist utility or industrial inspections.
Typical inspection work Dense switchgear, cable terminations, electrical connections, motors and industrial machinery. Large motors, heat exchangers, equipment groups and confined plant rooms. Overhead busbars, elevated connections and machinery behind access restrictions. Long-distance inspection of smaller electrical and mechanical components that cannot be approached.
